CNADCA
Canadian National Air Duct Cleaning Association
The CNADCA Standard IAQ-100-2025 was not created casually—it was developed through a structured, evidence-based, cross-referenced, multi-stage process to establish Canada’s first nationally consistent standard for HVAC hygiene, duct cleaning, and indoor air quality practices.

The CNADCA Standard IAQ-100-2025 was built through a structured, multi-stage development process grounded in evidence and careful cross-referencing. It creates Canada’s first nationally consistent benchmark for HVAC hygiene, air duct cleaning, and indoor air quality (IAQ) best practices.
Here's how the Standard was produced:
We conducted a full technical review of:
NADCA ACR 2025 Standard
ASHRAE ventilation and cleanliness guidelines
CSA (Canadian Standards Association) HVAC-related codes
Provincial and federal mechanical regulations
Manufacturer maintenance specifications for major HVAC components
This ensured CNADCA’s standard aligns with the highest-quality frameworks already used in North America.

Canada has no national regulator for duct cleaning.
We identified several gaps:
No Canadian-certified technician pathway
No national ethics framework
No standardized consumer protection guidelines
Inconsistent training, equipment use, and safety protocols
Wide regional differences in service quality
The IAQ-100-2025 standard was designed to fill these gaps and unify the industry.

The standard includes adaptations for:
Canadian Building Code
Canadian Fire Code
Extreme cold-weather HVAC behavior
Canadian IAQ requirements
Bilingual national framework
Provincial licensing and insurance expectations
This created a standard that is legally and environmentally appropriate for Canada, not just imported from the U.S

CNADCA updated and expanded the traditional standards to include:
UV-C & advanced IAQ technologies
Including UV-C air sterilization, HEPA/ULPA filtration practices, and VOC mitigation.
Modern cleaning equipment requirements
Brush systems, agitation methods, negative-air machines, and HEPA standards.
Digital verification and photo documentation
Bringing the industry forward into objective, transparent reporting.
Updated microbial handling procedures
Aligned with Canadian health and safety regulations.
Step-by-step cleaning methodology
Clear, repeatable workflows for assessment → cleaning → verification.

CNADCA added a governance framework including:
Code of ethics
Expectations for honesty & transparency
Consumer protection requirements
Complaint & compliance process
Certification integrity rules
This elevates professionalism and protects the entire industry.

Even before launch, the draft standard was reviewed by:
IAQ professionals
HVAC technicians
Industry stakeholders
Early CNADCA supporters
Future versions will include public review cycles and industry voting, establishing CNADCA as a democratic and transparent regulator.

The final document was structured into:
A formal industry standard
A technician handbook
A certification reference document
A member-friendly summary
A public consumer overview
This makes the standard usable at all levels:
Professional technician
Business owner
Regulator
Consumer
